Apple\'s \'iPhone Duo\': five checkpoints before buying

Apple\'s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, goes on sale in South Korea the next day. Apple to source more iPhone parts in US, spend $100 million on titanium for foldable iPhone Duo

Apple is expanding U.S. sourcing for key materials and components used in the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo. The company said it will secure new partners through its U.S. Manufacturing Program and source about 100 parts from firms in at least 12 U.S. states. Apple will invest up to $100 million over three years to support titanium production by Pennsylvania-based Perryman and said the titanium includes at least 80 percent recycled material.

Apple seen as only major maker to raise shipments despite 14 percent smartphone market contraction forecast

Apple is expected to be the only major smartphone maker to increase shipments this year even as the global market slumps on surging memory prices, a report said. Analysts at GF Securities forecast Apple’s 2026 smartphone shipments will rise 4 percent to 257 million units, while global shipments fall 14.2 percent to 1.08 billion. They see Apple widening its lead over Samsung Electronics and keeping the top spot for a third straight year.
