Korea media watchdog blocks access to 1,887 SNS posts soliciting or inducing prostitution
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media and Communications Deliberation Commission on Sunday decided to request access blocks for 1,887 items of information on social networking services that solicit or induce prostitution. The commission said it focused monitoring on posts using slang implying prostitution, listing prices and locations and steering users to direct messages. The measures also covered 250 items aimed at luring minors, including offers to buy cigarettes. It will also seek deletions from overseas platforms.

Bamisimwi blocks access to 143 illegal debt collection posts on SNS
The Broadcasting Media Communications Review Committee\'s communications review subcommittee on Sunday decided to order corrective measures, including access blocks, on 143 cases of illegal debt-collection information posted on social networking services that disclosed debtors\' personal details. The review followed requests from the Financial Supervisory Service, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency and the Ulsan Jungbu Police Station. The committee warned that spreading debtors’ personal data online can be punished by up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won.

Telecom operators\' user protection average score 873 points, down 13 points from year earlier
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communications Commission said an assessment of user-protection work at 47 telecommunications operators showed overall performance fell or was flat from a year earlier. The average score for 39 companies, excluding eight pilot-assessment firms, was 873.3 points, down 13.4 points. Grades for large carriers generally declined. The regulator cited shortcomings among value-added operators and said it would withhold or delay penalty-reduction benefits for top-rated firms.
