Smart glasses need investment now to become future leaders, Qualcomm executive says

Qualcomm has placed smart glasses as the top priority in its Snapdragon portfolio, saying personal AI agents need the context of what users see and hear. Senior Vice President Ziad Asghar said agents must understand who asked, where they are and what they are doing, and that glasses and other wearables can provide that data. He compared the market to the early smartphone era and said firms investing now could become future leaders.

Snapdragon partners are targeting device makers with proprietary models and inference engines tailored to Qualcomm\'s Hexagon NPU, aiming to supply agents that run on devices rather than in the cloud. AGI, LiquidAI and MemoriesAI introduced on-device agent technologies at a Snapdragon Summit session in Maui. AGI presented an agent OS stack and software bundle, LiquidAI highlighted context models using the sensing hub and NPU, and MemoriesAI offered a memory layer and a vision-language model.
