Government to step up lab safety, expand infrastructure, staffing and training
South Korea\'s government will expand safety infrastructure to create safer laboratory environments, tighten standards for dedicated safety staff and strengthen related training. The Ministry of Science and ICT approved a lab safety strengthening package at a committee meeting at Hanyang University in Seoul. The plan focuses on high-risk laboratories, increasing safety equipment and raising statutory safety management cost standards. It also expands staffing requirements, doubles mandatory training time for student researchers and tightens accountability and reporting rules.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics\' Busan site wins labour minister award for safety partnership
Samsung Electro-Mechanics\' Busan site won an award from South Korea\'s Ministry of Employment and Labor in recognition of its support for workplace safety and health at partner companies. The ministry and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency selected 32 companies as outstanding participants in the 2025 large-small business safety and health cooperation programme. Samsung Electro-Mechanics provided tailored support to 20 partner firms, including risk assessments, expert dispatches, consulting and seminars.

KB Financial Group recruits firms for SME industrial safety support project
KB Financial Group said on Tuesday it is recruiting supplier companies to participate in an industrial safety support project for small and medium-sized enterprises with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. The project will invest 7 billion won to strengthen SMEs\' industrial safety capabilities and prevent serious accidents. It will identify and foster suppliers with strong safety technologies and systems, while providing beneficiary firms with free, tailored improvements to workplaces that need safety equipment and solutions.
