Lotte Chemical is strengthening support for partner companies’ safety management. Lotte Chemical said on Jan. 22 it held a safety and health forum on Jan. 21 at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, for partner companies.
The forum was arranged to support the establishment of a voluntary safety and health management system through two-way communication between Lotte Chemical and its partner firms. Representatives and chief safety officers from 38 resident partner companies attended. The aim was to raise partners’ safety management standards by sharing key issues related to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
The main programme was organised with a practical focus that could be applied immediately at worksites. Sessions covered recent court rulings and trends related to the law, training on compliance requirements for responsible managers, and sharing partners’ safety management status and plans. Participants shared best practices in safety and health management and inspection results.
Lotte Chemical first held forums last year at each of its business sites, including Yeosu, Daesan and Ulsan, together with regional partner companies. The Seoul forum was an additional event following the regional ones. The company said it is continuing efforts to entrench a shared safety culture based on this.
Park In-cheol (박인철), head of the ESG management division, said the forum was a place for the company and its partners to communicate together as a single safety community. Based on a shared understanding that all accidents can be prevented, he said the company would spare no resources needed to create a safe work environment and prevent accidents.
