LG CNS joins global AI materials alliance, backs AX for South Korean firms
LG CNS said on July 27 it was selected as a founding member of the AI Materials Foundry, a global materials development collaboration led by British AI startup CuspAI. The alliance includes 48 companies and research institutes including Nvidia, Meta, AMD, 3M and Merck. LG CNS will oversee the platform’s introduction and operations in South Korea, supporting data integration, result interpretation, and platform deployment and maintenance for firms developing new materials.

Park In-gyu visits KIST to discuss research data management measures
Park In-gyu (박인규), head of the Science and Technology Innovation Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Seoul on Thursday to inspect research data collection and management and to meet researchers. The visit followed the promulgation on June 9 of a law to promote national research data management and use. Park reviewed a platform that automatically collects equipment data and supports online reuse and analysis.

Ku Hyuk-chae visits IBS to seek ways to strengthen basic science competitiveness
Ku Hyuk-chae (구혁채), first vice minister of science and ICT, visited the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) on Tuesday to inspect major research sites and core facilities and to hold talks with research group leaders. The visit was the 19th stop in the Project Empathy 118 initiative. Ku reviewed use of key equipment including a cryo-electron microscope and a supercomputer and discussed ways to expand research fields, recruit talent and improve flexibility in using research funds.
