Netflix BTS concert draws 18.4 million viewers worldwide on day of show; buffering and subtitle lag need fixes

Netflix livestreamed BTS\' comeback concert at Seoul\'s Gwanghwamun Square and said 18.4 million viewers watched worldwide that day. The show was carried exclusively to more than 190 countries and regions, and Netflix said it ranked in weekly top 10 lists in 80 countries and was No. 1 in 24. Viewers reported buffering, freezes, low video quality, delayed subtitles and frequent audience shots, raising questions about unicast streaming limits during traffic spikes.

MSIT to hold idea contest to improve radio wave regulation based on public input

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 17 it will begin work to improve radio wave regulations based on public participation, in line with accelerating AI transformation and the spread of new industries and technologies. The ministry will hold an idea contest from March 17 for the public and simultaneously gather opinions from associations, forums and academic groups. It will also collect views from about 40 related and consumer organisations and pursue rapid, practical improvements.

Hanwha Systems speeds industry-academia drive to localise defence semiconductors for communications and radar

Localisation of defence semiconductor technology is accelerating through industry-academia cooperation. Hanwha Systems said it will set up joint R&D centres with Seoul National University and Sungkyunkwan University to secure defence and space semiconductor design capabilities. With Seoul National University, it will conduct joint research through 2031 to develop high-frequency communications semiconductor design technology. With Sungkyunkwan University, it will jointly develop a high-power, high-efficiency, wideband radar semiconductor.
