AI product verification certificate draws attention as Korea moves to lower entry barriers to public AI market

South Korea will introduce an AI product verification certificate scheme under the AI Basic Act, aimed at lowering barriers for AI firms entering the public market. The certificate is not a formal certification but an alternative way to prove technical requirements in procurement, a lawyer said. KOSA will accept and issue applications, while TTA will conduct technical reviews. Products with certificates will receive eased requirements, including waived delivery records and credit ratings, and bid evaluation advantages.

Europe warns of battery supply chain risk with heavy reliance on imported materials

Europe is using batteries as a core technology for energy, industry and defence, but its heavy dependence on overseas sources for key materials is creating supply chain vulnerabilities, a report said. The Backbone Coalition warned that domestic production of essential inputs is far below demand, leaving Europe exposed to geopolitical conflict or supply disruptions. It urged the European Union to rapidly expand support over the next three years and broaden it across the battery value chain.

FortyTwoMaru wins government certification under AI product-service verification scheme

Agentic AI startup FortyTwoMaru said on Sept. 16 that its generative AI solutions, the domain-specific lightweight language model LLM42 v.1.1 and the high-precision retrieval-augmented generation solution RAG42 v.1.3, received certification under the government’s AI product-service verification scheme based on follow-up amendments to the AI Basic Act. The company said the system excludes simple API calls or rules-based non-AI software.
