Coinbase CEO says AI expansion raises crypto value in symbiotic relationship
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the rise of artificial intelligence will not weaken the cryptocurrency market and could increase the need for blockchain and crypto. He said viewing AI and crypto as rivals is a zero-sum approach. Armstrong described crypto as a general-purpose infrastructure technology and said AI agents will require their own financial infrastructure. Coinbase is building infrastructure for AI agents using the x402 protocol, Base and USDC, he said.

Ripple Chief Technology Officer emeritus David Schwartz held a light-hearted exchange with AI chatbot Grok about casting for a hypothetical biopic about his life, again mentioning the possibility of a film. Grok suggested a fictional title and named actor Ian McKellen, drawing parallels to Gandalf and to the creation of the XRP Ledger. Schwartz replied with a joke. No talks or projects for an actual film or documentary have been confirmed.

Nvidia is discussing support for financing OpenAI’s large AI data centre project, prompting warnings about a circular funding structure in AI investing.
