KB Financial to expand tailored financial support for gig workers
KB Financial Group is building a tailored financial support system for gig workers such as delivery riders, designated drivers, logistics workers and creators. The group said it will roll out dedicated financial products and services in stages from July 1, linking its banking, card and insurance units. Planned offerings include a gig worker account with preferential interest, recognition of irregular income for benefits, microfinance for young delivery workers, mobile rate plans, a new check card and insurance discounts tied to safety education.

Value-added telecom services revenue enters 500 trillion won range as digital platforms become part of daily life
South Korea\'s value-added telecommunications services kept growing, with 2024 revenue estimated at 502.9 trillion won, up 15.3 percent from a year earlier, a government survey showed. Digital platform services generated 161.5 trillion won, accounting for 32.1 percent of the total and rising 5.4 percent. The survey also found broad use of AI, big data and cybersecurity, and examined user behaviour across platform types and subscription-based bundling of OTT and e-commerce services.

Naver Pay, Kakao Pay begin applications for second-round high oil price relief funds
Naver Pay and Kakao Pay have started accepting applications for the second round of high oil price relief funds. The programme targets 70 percent of the population and runs from May 18 to July 3. Naver Pay linked the process to Naver Search and maps and allows benefits to be received as Npay points, money or a prepaid money card. Kakao Pay enables applications via KakaoTalk and supports multiple payment methods. Both are running applicant events.
