Apple to unveil more than 10 products in September, including iPhone 18 and camera-equipped AirPods

Apple is expected to be preparing more than 10 new products ahead of its September product launch event. The event is likely to focus on the iPhone 18 lineup and new Apple Watch models, with possible additions including next-generation AirPods with an infrared camera and smart home devices such as a new Apple TV 4K, HomePad and new HomePod models. Some products, including an OLED iPad mini and new Macs, may be more likely for October.

Apple releases iOS 26.6, focuses on security and preparing for iOS 27

Apple has released version 26.6 of its operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. The update focuses on security fixes, bug repairs and groundwork for iOS 27 and macOS 27 expected this fall, rather than major new features. Apple said it is optimising the Spotlight index to prepare for iOS 27. The release also adds an alert when blocked contacts hit the limit and includes extensive security updates, including more than 150 items for macOS 26.6.

Anthropic Mithos bypasses Apple\'s 5-year macOS security technology in five days

A privilege-escalation exploit has emerged that bypasses Apple’s next-generation memory protection technology, Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE), developed over five years. CalypsoAI said it used Anthropic’s AI model Mithos in preview to produce attack code targeting M5 chip-based Macs in five days. The exploit combined two macOS vulnerabilities and multiple techniques to obtain root access from a local user account. CalypsoAI said it has shared details with Apple and plans to publish a report after a patch.
