Circle adds native USDC to OKX layer2 X Layer
Circle has introduced native USDC and its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on OKX’s Ethereum layer2 network X Layer. Users can use Circle-issued USDC directly and transfer it across supported blockchains. X Layer is an EVM-compatible network, allowing Ethereum applications to run with relatively few changes. CCTP burns USDC on the origin chain and mints the same amount on the destination chain.

Ethereum layer2 TVL retreats to $5 billion level, back to 2023
Total value locked (TVL) on Ethereum layer2 networks has fallen back to about $5 billion for the first time since 2023, The Block reported. The figure gives up most of the gains seen in 2024, when networks such as Optimism, Arbitrum and zkSync drew attention after launching. Optimistic rollups including Optimism, Base and Arbitrum still lead TVL with $4.8 billion, or 96 percent of the total.

BitMine increased its ether holdings to 5.78 million tokens, securing 4.8 percent of total circulating supply. Over the past week it added 7,430 ether, moving closer to its goal of accumulating 5 percent of circulating supply. About 4.9 million ether, or roughly 85 percent of its holdings, are staked. The company listed total assets of $11.5 billion, including 207 bitcoin and $385 million in cash and marketable securities.
