[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Ink, an Ethereum layer2 led by Kraken, will adopt Optimism’s fully managed OP Enterprise service under a multi-year contract.

According to a recent report by The Block, Optimism will directly operate Ink’s production infrastructure under the deal, while the Ink Foundation focuses on ecosystem growth and developing new financial products.

Optimism said the contract is among the first cases of a major layer2 outsourcing infrastructure operations to a managed service provider.

Ink, launched in December 2024, processed more than 1 million transactions in the first 24 hours of mainnet operations. Applications built on Ink now generate annual revenue approaching $40 million.

Ink will also participate as a design partner for OP Enterprise. The roadmap includes building programmable blocks and sequencer-level compliance tools.

Optimism Chief Executive Jing Wang (징 왕) said programmable financial infrastructure is becoming the basis for institutions to build on-chain, but operations require different expertise. She said the Ink Foundation will focus on ecosystem growth, while Optimism will focus on operating and improving the network.

Earlier this year, Vision Chain, operated by Bitpanda, adopted the fully managed OP Enterprise service ahead of Ink.
