Secret Network proposes move from Cosmos to Arbitrum, citing AI-driven security risks

Secret Network has proposed a plan to move from Cosmos to Ethereum layer2 Arbitrum. It cited the risk of exploiting vulnerabilities using artificial intelligence and a weakening Cosmos ecosystem as reasons.

According to a recent Cointelegraph report, Secret Network has operated privacy-protecting smart contracts on Cosmos since 2020. However, the team said the environment has changed and it views security risks as the most serious concern. It said old code has become much easier to analyze and the overall cost of attacking outdated code using AI is also falling.

The June Axelar-Secret IBC bridge exploit was also cited as a factor behind the migration proposal. The incident resulted in the theft of $4.7 million in bridge assets, but Secret Network's native token SCRT was not affected. Secret Network sees rising risks from aging code that is not sufficiently maintained, and believes advanced AI models such as Anthropic's Claude Mythos 5 have further increased the ability to detect and exploit code vulnerabilities.

Secret Network said Arbitrum has liquidity, development tools, wallet and exchange support, and a developer base. It said Cosmos, by contrast, has seen liquidity decline and developers move to other ecosystems, and that tools once considered reliable have weakened.
