Coinbase's layer2 blockchain Base (BASE)

Base, an Ethereum layer2 network backed by Coinbase, stopped producing blocks for about 2 hours due to a consensus issue before recovering.

Cointelegraph reported on June 26 that Base was producing blocks normally after the outage.

The Base team said an incorrect block was sequenced due to a consensus problem, which halted new block creation.

Base founder Jesse Pollak (제시 폴락) said all funds on the network were safe. He said the interruption would be used as an opportunity to further develop Base into a 24-hour global financial platform.

The outage occurred a few hours before Base's "Beryl" upgrade. The update aims to reduce withdrawal delays and introduce a new token standard for real-world assets and stablecoins.
