BMW to launch iX5 Hydrogen SUV in 2028
BMW plans to launch its hydrogen fuel cell SUV, the iX5 Hydrogen, in 2028. It unveiled the fifth-generation X5 with five powertrain plans, including a hydrogen model, but did not disclose sales markets. BMW links hydrogen vehicles to broader energy storage needs as renewable power expands. The iX5 Hydrogen stores 7 kg of hydrogen and targets up to 750 km range with refuelling in under 5 minutes, while infrastructure, costs and hydrogen’s environmental footprint remain constraints.
