MLCC shortage stretches lead times to 24 weeks
Supply lead times for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) have stretched to as long as 24 weeks, about three times the production lead time of around 8 weeks, as utilisation rates at Murata and Samsung Electro-Mechanics stay in the 90 percent range. Broker iM Securities estimates first-quarter utilisation at 92 percent and 95 percent, respectively. Distributors in Taiwan cite longer lead times and low inventories, while production shifts toward AI server MLCC are pushing general-purpose orders to second-tier suppliers.

Samsung Electronics\' 57 trillion won earnings clue emerges in Taiwan as memory distributor posts record sales
A clue to Samsung Electronics’ surprise earnings emerged in Taiwan after Supreme Electronics, Samsung’s largest memory chip distributor there, posted record sales. Supreme’s March revenue rose 191 percent year on year to 53.315 billion Taiwan dollars, topping 50 billion for the first time. First-quarter revenue jumped 137 percent to 110.164 billion Taiwan dollars. The surge suggests both higher prices and stronger shipments, aligning with Korean export data showing memory exports up sharply in March.

Samsung Electronics posts 57.2 trillion won earnings surprise, beating estimates on semiconductor boom
Samsung Electronics posted preliminary first-quarter operating profit of 57.2 trillion won on revenue of 133 trillion won, far above securities firm estimates. The result was driven by surging memory prices and strong memory exports, with DRAM and NAND cited as key contributors. Analysts expect weaker performance in non-semiconductor units, including MX and displays, while the foundry business is still estimated to be loss-making.
