Samsung Electronics posted a record operating profit of 89.4 trillion won in the second quarter on sales of 171 trillion won, preliminary results showed. Operating profit jumped 1,810.26 percent from a year earlier. The company has set record highs for both sales and operating profit for three straight quarters since the fourth quarter of last year. Excluding provisions tied to special bonuses, second-quarter operating profit is estimated at about 106.5 trillion won. Shares fell nearly 6 percent on the day of the announcement.

Samsung Electronics will announce preliminary results for the second quarter of 2026 on July 7, with brokerage forecasts split. Operating profit estimates range from 80 to 92 trillion won, largely due to differing assumptions on provisions for bonuses in the semiconductor (DS) division.
