Tesla posts surprise deliveries; Tour de France on high alert as deadly heat wave hits
Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, beating market forecasts and marking its best second-quarter total. Deliveries rose 25 percent from a year earlier and 34 percent from the first quarter, ending a two-year slide in quarterly deliveries. The company is expanding robotaxi testing and adding a three-row Model Y in the United States. Toyota sets up joint venture with Joby to produce eVTOL air taxis
Toyota and U.S. electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft developer Joby Aviation are starting a strategic manufacturing partnership to enable commercial production of electric air taxis. The companies have set up a joint venture, Joby Toyota Aero Manufacturing Preparation Company, to build production systems and improve productivity, quality and cost competitiveness. Toyota will own 51 percent and Joby 49 percent. The announcement did not include specific production targets, timelines or profitability plans.
