Dubai VDX approved as world\'s first commercial eVTOL dedicated vertiport
Dubai\'s VDX has received regulatory certification as the world\'s first commercial eVTOL-dedicated vertiport, marking a move into readiness for commercial operations. Electrek reported that the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority certified the Skyports Infrastructure-developed site. Skyports said VDX will be a core transfer hub for Dubai\'s air taxi network, with 2 pads, high-power DC fast charging, 3,100 square metres of area and capacity for up to 170,000 people a year.

CATL aviation battery passes key safety test, blocks thermal runaway
CATL said it passed a key safety test for an aviation battery intended for passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. In a test that intentionally triggered abnormalities in two adjacent cells, thermal runaway did not spread to other cells, it said. CATL said the full process was observed by a representative designated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The company said it has completed preparations for mass production and named Autoflight as the first application target.

Boeing sells three air taxi startups to Archer Aviation
Boeing is selling three electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) subsidiaries to Archer Aviation and will also take an equity stake in Archer. The assets include Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu. Boeing and Archer will share technology, while Boeing will retain access to Wisk’s autonomous flight system for commercial and defence projects. Archer plans to begin pilot air taxi services before year-end in New York, Texas and Florida.
