Makinarocks expands defence AI business with AWS partnership

Makinarocks said on Monday it will cooperate with Amazon Web Services to expand its defence AI business. The company plans to develop AI technology tailored to defence environments using AWS cloud infrastructure and security technology, including designing high-availability, low-latency architecture for operational settings. Makinarocks said it will retain ownership of defence data and core algorithm development, while AWS secures cloud infrastructure and Makinarocks secures data and applications.

Naver, KAI to jointly develop defence-focused AI foundation model

Naver, Naver Cloud and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will jointly develop an artificial intelligence model optimised for defence and a physical AI-based future combat system platform, the companies said on Tuesday. They will first pursue a defence-focused AI foundation model to reduce security risks and strengthen defence technology self-reliance. The partners plan to join government-led national R&D projects and block-funding programmes using the jointly developed model.

Science ministry says K-AI models expand into specialised fields from cancer treatment to defence and chip design

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Sunday domestically developed artificial intelligence models are spreading into high-risk, high-difficulty professional settings. It said applications are expanding to cancer treatment planning, autonomous welding in shipbuilding, defence and semiconductor design. LG AI Research is working with Vanderbilt University Medical Center on an AI system for cancer care. NC AI is introducing physical AI to Hanwha Ocean\'s shipyards, while SKT and the defence ministry are pursuing a defence-focused model.
