Anthropic buys up to 2 gigawatts of GPU capacity from AMD
Anthropic has signed a multibillion-dollar deal with AMD to secure up to 2 gigawatts of GPU capacity. SiliconANGLE reported AMD plans to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic and broadly adopt the Claude AI model in its software development. Anthropic will use AMD’s MI450 series GPUs in systems based on the Helios rack design, with deployment planned from the first half of 2027.

KT selected as preferred bidder for National Information Resources Service innovation ISP
KT said on July 14 it was selected as the preferred bidder for a project ordered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Information Society Agency to establish an innovation information strategy plan for the National Information Resources Service. The project sets standards and a phased relocation roadmap for 693 public information systems operated at the Daejeon headquarters. It also reviews data centre options, private cloud use, and security and disaster recovery frameworks.

Microsoft, Chevron sign 20-year power supply deal to run AI data centres on natural gas
Microsoft and Chevron plan to build a 2.67 gigawatt natural gas power plant in west Texas and use it to supply electricity to Microsoft AI and cloud data centres. The companies have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for dedicated supply. Most capacity will come from two GE Vernova turbines, with the remainder from Caterpillar unit Solar Turbines. The project has drawn attention to potential emissions and climate-strategy tensions.
