a16z Crypto says blockchain lowers barriers to creating financial markets

a16z Crypto partner Robby Petersen said in a recent company blog post that blockchain will explosively expand financial markets by lowering barriers to entry in traditional finance. He said creating new markets in conventional finance requires overcoming listing reviews, legal processes and regional restrictions, while blockchain lets anyone issue assets and distribute them globally. He cited perpetual futures as an example enabling 24/7 on-chain trading, and said on-chain markets could expand to macro indicators.

Global fintech investment in the second half is expected to concentrate on stablecoin and digital-asset infrastructure, AI and agent commerce, an outlook said.
