Meta nears launch of consumer AI agent Hatch
Meta Platforms plans to launch within weeks a consumer version of its conversational AI agent, OpenClaw, which it internally calls Hatch, The Information reported, citing internal documents. The company is also preparing a new AI model, Watermelon, targeting an October release, the report said. Hatch is trained to access websites including DoorDash, Etsy, Reddit, Yelp and Outlook. Meta is considering tiered pricing, with a premium monthly subscription up to $199.99.

Starbucks deploys mobile cafe to support heatwave-vulnerable groups
Starbucks has deployed a mobile coffee trailer to support vulnerable groups amid a continuing heatwave. Starbucks Korea said on Thursday it is carrying out community activities such as delivering iced drinks and cooling supplies. It donated 50 million won to the Korea Council on Social Welfare for heat-season support programmes. The company also visited welfare centres and workplaces in July, providing coffee and other items, and plans to expand a customer-participation campaign using the trailer.

Meta unveils Muse Spark 1.1 to challenge Anthropic and OpenAI in coding AI
Meta has unveiled a preview of its new model, Muse Spark 1.1, focused on coding and AI agent tasks. Meta is offering the API through its developer portal as it competes with OpenAI and Anthropic in coding AI. The update comes three months after Alexandre Wang took charge of AI and Meta introduced its first AI model. Meta set token-based pricing and provides $20 in free credits for new API accounts.
