Baemin’s quick commerce platform is expanding its role as a sales channel for regional farms. Woowa Brothers said on Saturday that sales of domestically sourced farm and livestock products bought directly from producing areas through Baemin Bmart in January to May rose 53 percent from a year earlier. The figure is well above last year’s full-year growth rate of 21 percent.
Seasonal fruit led the growth. Over the same period, Bmart’s total fruit sales rose 61 percent from a year earlier. Strawberries from Hadong in South Gyeongsang and Goryeong in North Gyeongsang rose 74 percent, while Korean melons from Seongju in North Gyeongsang increased 103 percent. Watermelons from Haman in South Gyeongsang and Buyeo in South Chungcheong surged 271 percent, while domestic blueberries from Damyang in South Jeolla and Gochang in North Jeolla rose 132 percent. There are currently 56 farms and companies nationwide with direct trade agreements with Bmart. Cooperative regions are expanding from Seogwipo on Jeju Island to Yanggu County in Gangwon Province.
Baemin is also continuing cooperation with local governments and institutions. Starting with a 2024 win-win agreement on agricultural product distribution in South Chungcheong Province, it signed win-win agreements in 2025 with the National Hanwoo Association and the city of Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province. In January this year, it was selected for a discount support programme for farm and livestock products hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation.
It will run a series of planned promotions in June as well. Through June 21, it will hold a "Watermelon of Honor" event offering up to 45 percent discounts on watermelons sourced from Eumseong in North Chungcheong and Buyeo and Nonsan in South Chungcheong. From June 17 to 23, it will offer up to 50 percent discounts in a planned promotion for Jeju pork and Nonghyup Ansim Hanwoo beef cuts. From June 24 to 30, it plans to sell about 7,000 packs of "mystery peaches" from Jain Nonghyup in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang, at discounted prices.
Jae-deok Jeon (전재덕), head of the Bmart MD office at Woowa Brothers, said it would further refine a win-win model linking Bmart’s fast delivery infrastructure with expanded sales channels for domestic farm and livestock products. He said it would continue to invest and cooperate so the platform can earn the trust of both regional farms and consumers.
