Polymarket says it is not fully rolling out KYC, keeps existing operating model

Polymarket will not introduce mandatory know-your-customer checks to its existing prediction market platform, it said. Josh Stevens (조시 스티븐스), Polymarket’s vice president of engineering, said KYC would apply only to an initial access phase for a new beta product and would not be added to any part of the current polymarket.com website. He also said KYC would not be required once the new product exits beta.

Prediction market platform Polymarket is reviewing whether to require know-your-customer checks, reconsidering an operating model that has allowed users to trade under pseudonyms. The move comes as the company faces growing legal risks tied to sanctions violations and illegal gambling allegations, and as more countries block or restrict access. Polymarket has geoblocked users in 35 countries, including Iran, Russia and North Korea. U.S. political and congressional scrutiny has also intensified.
