Sci-tech media panel passes ruling party-led resolution urging Lee Jin-sook to recuse herself
South Korea\'s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on Monday passed, led by the ruling party, a resolution urging People Power Party lawmaker Lee Jin-sook (이진숙) to refrain from speaking and voting on agenda items involving herself. People Power Party members, including Lee, protested the item being tabled and walked out before the vote. Democratic Party lawmakers criticised Lee, while the opposition demanded the agenda change be withdrawn.

UK considers allowing retail investors access to Polymarket and Kalshi after 7-year ban
Britain\'s Financial Conduct Authority is considering whether to ease restrictions that have limited retail investors\' use of prediction markets, reports said. The review involves discussion over whether to relax a ban on binary options for retail customers in place since 2019. Platforms under consideration include Polymarket and Kalshi, which offer binary-options-style contracts on outcomes of events such as sports, politics and weather. The FCA has not lifted the ban and is still at the review stage.

Kalshi U.S. visitors surge more than 1,500 percent as sports betting drives growth
U.S. prediction market platform Kalshi’s U.S. website visitors jumped more than 1,500 percent in less than a year, driven by a surge in sports prediction contracts and a sharp rise in trading. Similarweb estimates showed 15.4 million U.S. visits in July, up from under 1 million in August 2025. Dune Analytics data put August notional volume at about $40 billion, while legal disputes grow over whether the products are financial instruments or sports gambling.
