A bitcoin wallet holding 100 bitcoin that had been dormant for 14 years and 9 months has recently moved again.
Blockchain outlet U.Today reported on Sept. 20 that the wallet had seen no transactions since it first received 100 bitcoin in November 2011, but a transfer was recently confirmed in block 967732.
The value of the holdings has risen about 2,486,052 percent since the initial receipt. The wallet received the bitcoin just a few months after Satoshi Nakamoto stopped public activity, and it had remained dormant since then.
Galaxy Research classified the address as “Noah Doe #3113.” The label is linked to a long-dormant bitcoin address lawsuit under way in New York. In March 2026, a lawsuit was filed in the New York State Supreme Court seeking confirmation of ownership of more than 3.7 million bitcoin tied to 39,069 bitcoin addresses. The plaintiff, “Noah Doe,” and two anonymous Wyoming limited liability companies asked the court to recognise them as the owners of long-dormant bitcoin. They claimed this included coins linked to Satoshi Nakamoto.
The case drew attention in the cryptocurrency community after a hearing was held earlier this month. The 100 bitcoin transfer is being read as more than the activation of an old wallet because it intersects with legal disputes over long-unused bitcoin.
On-chain data suggest the holdings were likely mined before the first halving on Nov. 28, 2012. Up to the first halving, a total of 10.5 million bitcoin were issued across 210,000 blocks, and the reward per block was 50 bitcoin. The fact that the address contained exactly 100 bitcoin suggests the holder may have been an early miner. Additional indicators supporting this have not yet been confirmed.
Galaxy Research said 172,042, or 83.5 percent, of 50-bitcoin coinbase UTXOs, meaning early mining reward outputs, have already been spent. Most of them moved before 2014. Unspent 50-bitcoin outputs total 33,995, or about 1,699,000 bitcoin.
Of those, 21,922 outputs, or about 1,096,000 bitcoin, are estimated to have been mined by Satoshi Nakamoto. That accounts for 64.5 percent of the remaining unspent early mining rewards. The latest move also highlighted that a large amount of early mined bitcoin still remains off the market.
It has not been confirmed whether the transfer was a response to the ownership dispute or a wallet move for selling or custodial purposes. It is difficult to draw firm conclusions about the holder’s intent or market impact solely because long-dormant holdings moved, making it necessary to watch follow-on fund flows and the progress of the lawsuit.
