Apple on Tuesday unveiled its next-generation Apple TV 4K, featuring an A19 chip and enhanced home hub functions. Apple said CPU performance is up to 50 percent faster and GPU performance up to 2 times faster than the previous generation, and the device adds a dedicated AV1 decoder for high-quality streaming with less bandwidth. The new Siri Remote supports Find My, while privacy features include a Secure Enclave for microphone data and end-to-end encrypted HomeKit video storage.

Apple is expected to hold a \'Welcome Home\' event at 9 a.m. ET on Oct. 13 and unveil three smart home products, with HomeView, a new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 likely to be central. Reports say the event will combine an in-person press gathering in New York with an online video presentation. HomeView is expected to recognise family members and serve as a home hub, with launches for some products possibly later.
