[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong] Apple may unveil more than seven additional new products in October, including Macs, home devices and iPads, following its September iPhone announcement. They could include the first touchscreen MacBook and home devices with strengthened artificial intelligence (AI) features, drawing attention to Apple's second-half hardware strategy.

On Sept. 10 local time, IT media outlets 9to5Mac and Cryptopolitan, among others, reported that Apple is expected to continue its fall hardware releases after unveiling new iPhones this week. They said a second product announcement in October could focus on Macs, home devices and iPads.

The product drawing the most attention is Apple's first touchscreen MacBook. It is expected to be a major revamp of the high-end MacBook Pro, featuring an OLED display, an M6 chip and a completely new design that supports touch input. Some leaked information has also mentioned the name "MacBook Ultra". Mark Gurman reported that the products not unveiled at the iPhone event included a touchscreen MacBook.

A 14-inch base-model MacBook Pro and a new iMac are also cited as October launch candidates. Both are expected to use the M6 chip, and the iMac may add new color options. Apple has already introduced the MacBook Neo, the M5 MacBook Air, a high-end M5 MacBook Pro, the Mac mini and the Mac Studio this year, but it would be continuing its Mac lineup overhaul in the second half.

A home device overhaul also appears to have shifted to October. Apple is reported to be working to reshape its home product lineup around Siri and Apple Intelligence. A new Apple TV 4K could include an A19 or A19 Pro chip, Siri AI and a new Siri remote. A screen-equipped home hub called "HomePad" or "HomePod Touch" has also been mentioned as a candidate. A second-generation HomePod mini and a redesigned full-size HomePod have also been cited as possible launches.

In iPads, a new iPad mini is expected to appear first. It could feature an OLED display and an A19 Pro or A20 Pro chip. Apple is also developing a successor to an entry-level iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, but its release could be delayed to early 2027.

A shared feature of the new products expected in the second half is stronger AI functions. Siri AI is expected to play a key role in home devices, and iPads are seen as getting chip upgrades to support Apple Intelligence. Macs are expected to see not only improved AI performance but also hardware changes such as touchscreen support and OLED displays.

It is not unusual for Apple to hold an additional event in October after its September iPhone event. In 5 of the past 10 years, Apple held a Mac-focused October unveiling after a September event, and the last standalone October event was held in 2023.

Still, the products and schedule currently being discussed are forecasts ahead of any official announcement. The iPhone Duo was also unveiled on Sept. 9, but actual shipments are scheduled for October. Attention is focused on whether Apple will mount another second-half product push in October centered on Macs, home devices and iPads.
