Korea ICT vice minister meets Singapore ambassador

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said First Vice Minister Ku Hyuk-chae met Singapore Ambassador to South Korea Wong Kai Jiun in Seoul on Thursday. The two sides agreed the Asia-Pacific region has strong research capacity and potential for cooperation, and discussed sustainable multilateral research cooperation. They also agreed to seek ways to build practical intergovernmental cooperation and expand joint research to implement memorandums on digital cooperation and science and technology cooperation.

Former Tencent AI chief says LLMs cannot beat U.S., points to AI video as next battleground

Concern is growing within China’s AI industry about its competitiveness in large language models, with some firms seeking a breakthrough in video-generation AI. Liu Wei, who led Tencent’s Hunyuan generative AI model team, cited a lack of paradigm innovation and said Chinese companies are copying U.S. approaches in core technologies. He estimated the U.S.-China gap at at least 3 months and warned it could widen to 6 months this year.

Coocon posts 4.47 billion won Q1 operating profit, expands stablecoin and AI businesses

Coocon is expanding its business by positioning global payments, stablecoins and AI-based data services as its next growth drivers. First-quarter revenue fell 7.5 percent from a year earlier to 16.01 billion won, while operating profit rose 1.9 percent to 4.47 billion won. The company said it defended profitability through fee-based business expansion and cost efficiency, and plans to strengthen overseas payment links and stablecoin-based payments.
