Samsung family completes 12 trillion won inheritance tax payment for Lee Kun-hee

The Samsung family has completed payment of 12 trillion won in inheritance tax on the estate of the late former chairman Lee Kun-hee over five years, finishing six installments, heirs said on Saturday. The amount is about 50 percent more than South Korea’s 2024 inheritance tax revenue of 8.2 trillion won and is the largest such payment since the country’s founding. The estate included stakes in affiliates and real estate.

Naver, Kakao draw attention with different AI strategies

Naver and Kakao are sharpening their artificial intelligence strategies this year, drawing attention for their different approaches. Naver is pursuing an “expansive internalisation” strategy by embedding AI across businesses such as search, commerce, fintech, cloud and robots. Kakao is concentrating AI within its single platform, KakaoTalk, after two years of restructuring that reduced affiliates. Kakao Mobility introduces taxi-ordering service at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital

Kakao Mobility said on March 29 it will expand its “Kakao T taxi ordering on behalf” service offline through cooperation with Bundang Seoul National University Hospital. The initiative is part of its support for people with mobility difficulties. The company provided a taxi web-call system that allows hospital staff to request taxis via work PCs. Visitors can give a destination at the information desk and receive trip details once a car is assigned.
