Korea passes special act to underpin U.S. investment deal

South Korea’s parliament on March 12 passed a special act to implement strategic investment commitments to the United States, four months after the two countries signed an MOU for $350 billion in investment. The law sets a project system and funding methods, caps annual investment at $20 billion and establishes a state-funded corporation with 2 trillion won in capital and a related fund. It also sets a two-tier decision structure and an exception process.
