EV battery life worries ease as data shows limited degradation after long use
Concerns that electric-vehicle battery performance will deteriorate sharply with increasing mileage appear to be at odds with real-world data, an analysis showed. Telematics firm Recurrent tracked thousands of EVs worldwide and found vehicles driven more than 150,000 miles still retain significant range. It said 2023 models hold range better than 2012 models, while battery replacement rates for newer generations are far lower. Industry officials and experts said the findings could ease consumer anxiety.
