SK Hynix to overhaul long-term supply contracts to prioritise volumes over price
SK Hynix is reviewing a new structure for long-term supply agreements, saying customers increasingly view securing volumes as a key risk. The company reported record quarterly revenue and operating profit for the first quarter of 2026 and said shortages of HBM, server DRAM and enterprise SSDs may persist, extending a price upcycle. It will bring forward the start of its Yongin cluster Phase 1 fab and accelerate NAND transitions and next-generation product rollouts.

MLCC shortage stretches lead times to 24 weeks
Supply lead times for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) have stretched to as long as 24 weeks, about three times the production lead time of around 8 weeks, as utilisation rates at Murata and Samsung Electro-Mechanics stay in the 90 percent range. Broker iM Securities estimates first-quarter utilisation at 92 percent and 95 percent, respectively. Distributors in Taiwan cite longer lead times and low inventories, while production shifts toward AI server MLCC are pushing general-purpose orders to second-tier suppliers.
