Rivian expands Georgia plant to 300,000-vehicle capacity to bolster R2 production base

U.S. electric vehicle maker Rivian increased the initial annual production capacity planned for its Georgia plant to as many as 300,000 vehicles from 200,000, Electrek reported. The company redesigned the plant to support a new midsize platform, lifting capacity by 50 percent. Rivian said it adjusted a U.S. Department of Energy loan of up to $4.5 billion to match the new design and kept its target to begin production in late 2028.
