Rivian expands Georgia plant to 300,000-vehicle capacity to bolster R2 production base
U.S. electric vehicle maker Rivian increased the initial annual production capacity planned for its Georgia plant to as many as 300,000 vehicles from 200,000, Electrek reported. The company redesigned the plant to support a new midsize platform, lifting capacity by 50 percent. Rivian said it adjusted a U.S. Department of Energy loan of up to $4.5 billion to match the new design and kept its target to begin production in late 2028.

Rivian secures additional $1 billion investment from Volkswagen
Volkswagen will invest an additional $1 billion in Rivian after winter testing is completed for the jointly developed electric vehicle ID EVERY1, TechCrunch reported. Of the amount, $75 million will be an equity investment, while $25 million will be provided as equity or convertible notes. Volkswagen has already invested more than $3 billion in Rivian and granted an option to lend an additional $1 billion from October.
