Trump pressures Fed Chair Powell to step down in May, threatens dismissal

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would dismiss Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell if Powell does not step down after his term ends in May. Trump called Powell incompetent in an interview and said he had considered replacing him early in his second term but did not act to avoid controversy. His remarks come as a Justice Department OSI probe examines a Fed headquarters renovation. MSIT, KIPO launch kickoff meeting for patent information AI agent project

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korean Intellectual Property Office held a kickoff meeting on Friday for the second year of development of the \"Easy patent information agent model\" at the government complex in Daejeon. The project is part of the ministry\'s Public AX Project. This year the agencies plan to expand the model\'s functions and apply it to KIPRIS, KIPO\'s intellectual property information search service.

Bank of Korea steps up \'Project Hangang\' as it presses CBDC pilot

The Bank of Korea is accelerating its central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot, Project Hangang, as legislation on a digital assets framework law stalls in parliament. The project has moved into a second phase focused on building a basis for commercialising deposit tokens, expanding participating banks and planned QR-code payments at more stores. The bank will also test paying an electric-vehicle charging subsidy in deposit tokens, a first for public finance, while debate continues over stablecoin oversight.
