Saemangeum to become physical AI, robotics hub; Han PM says Hyundai Motor investment begins new direction

South Korean Prime Minister Han Sung-sook (한성숙) visited Saemangeum in North Jeolla province as her first trip to the region since taking office and discussed support for Hyundai Motor Group investment and measures to foster physical AI and robotics industries. She held a corporate meeting with tenant firms, experts, government ministries and provincial officials. The government plans to revise the Saemangeum master plan around a concrete 10-year development blueprint and set up a pan-government support system.

NHN\'s Handol supports AI training at South Korea-China youth baduk exchange

NHN said on July 23 it provided its artificial intelligence baduk program Handol for joint training in the baduk event at the 19th South Korea-China Youth Sports Exchange held in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, on July 21. The exchange, hosted by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, runs for seven days through July 25 and includes joint training, official matches and cultural activities. Participants gave positive reviews of the AI-based training.

Post office launches pilot bank agency service for loan consultations in rural areas without bank branches

Korea Post has begun a pilot bank agency service to improve access to financial services in underserved areas. Korea Post chief Park In-hwan (박인환) visited the Cheongyang Post Office in South Chungcheong Province to inspect operations. The service allows residents in county-level areas without commercial bank branches to consult on and apply for bank loan products at head post offices. The pilot covers 20 post offices nationwide and offers consultations for eight products from four major banks.
