Lotte Energy Materials to invest 50 billion won to expand Iksan circuit foil capacity for AI demand
Lotte Energy Materials will invest about 50 billion won to expand circuit foil production capacity for AI data centres. The investment will target facility expansion at its Iksan plant in North Jeolla Province, the only circuit foil production base in South Korea. The company aims to raise annual maximum circuit foil capacity to 16,000 tons by 2027. It said the move is a pre-emptive investment aimed at both earnings recovery and market expansion.

Solus Advanced Materials Q1 operating loss 22 billion won widens 43.8 percent
Solus Advanced Materials posted first-quarter consolidated revenue of 192.6 billion won and an operating loss of 22.0 billion won. Revenue rose 13.6 percent from the previous quarter, but the operating loss widened 43.8 percent from a year earlier. The company cited an incomplete recovery in battery foil output alongside burdens from fixed costs and power prices. Battery foil sales rose 47 percent quarter-on-quarter, while OLED materials sales fell 17.1 percent.

National AI Strategy Committee checks Jeonbuk physical AI innovation hub
South Korea\'s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee said its standing vice chair, Lim Moon-young (임문영), visited Jeonju and Saemangeum in North Jeolla province on April 15 to review the status of physical AI demonstrations and ways to link them with private investment. He toured a manufacturing technology test lab at Jeonbuk National University and discussed results and next steps for a physical AI proof-of-concept project. He also heard Hyundai Motor Group’s Saemangeum investment plan.
