Databricks starts new fundraising talks at $165 to $175 billion valuation
Databricks is discussing a new fundraising round at a valuation of $165 billion to $175 billion, The Information reported on Sunday. The valuation would be up sharply from $134 billion at the end of last year. The new round could begin as soon as within a month and final terms have not been set. CEO Ali Ghodsi called 2026 the worst year to list, Bloomberg TV reported.

Google plans release of 32 million AI-selected mosquitoes in Florida to test disease control
Google is seeking to conduct large-scale field trials in Florida using male mosquitoes carrying Wolbachia bacteria, selected with AI and automation, to reduce mosquito populations and curb the spread of diseases such as West Nile virus. Public EPA documents show its Debug project applied to release up to 32 million Wolbachia-treated male house mosquitoes in Florida and 32 million in California, with Florida releases split over two years. Public comments run until June 5.

U.S. 5 labor groups submit letter opposing CLARITY Act, warning retirement pensions at risk
Five major U.S. labor groups have formally voiced opposition to the CLARITY Act, a crypto market-structure bill, urging all senators to vote against it ahead of a Senate Banking Committee review. The groups said the bill could undermine the stability of workers’ retirement pension systems, including public pensions, by integrating cryptocurrencies into the real economy without sufficient safeguards. They also criticised provisions on stablecoin interest and rewards.
