Military life in one app: \'Jangbyeong e-um\' to launch full service in October

South Korea\'s National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the Ministry of National Defense said they will launch the full service of \'Jangbyeong e-um\' in October. Built on a private-sector cloud, it integrates services previously spread across 46 systems into a single platform covering conscription assessment, personnel and welfare services during service, and reserve duty after discharge. It also introduces a mobile military ID and will add 14 services including an AI chatbot.

KT becomes first Korean telecom to join NATO defence communications standardisation

KT said on Sunday it will take part in the ninth meeting of NATO\'s Next-Generation Communication and Services Panel (NWCSP) project as a 5G and 6G standards committee member, becoming the first South Korean telecom operator to do so. The meeting, hosted by the defence ministry and TTA, will be held in Seoul from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Participants will discuss applying 5G and 6G to defence and developing next-generation standards.

LG Uplus to run AI experience education for children of military personnel with defense ministry

LG Uplus will run an AI education program for children of South Korean military personnel with the Ministry of National Defense. The company said it will hold the “I-Dream Challenge LG Uplus AI Plus Camp” at Konjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi province. The camp will host 110 students in grades 4 to 6 and 193 guardians. Activities include generative AI-based performances, hands-on programs and an AI hackathon.
