LG Uplus will run an AI education programme for children of military personnel with the Ministry of National Defense.

LG Uplus said on Sept. 14 it will hold the “I-Dream Challenge LG Uplus AI Plus Camp” event at Konjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi province.

The camp aims to help children of military personnel understand and use AI while building digital skills. A total of 303 people will take part, including 110 students in grades 4 to 6 and 193 guardians, under the theme “Mission: Protect Mom and Dad, Little AI Guardians.”

Students will attend a magic performance using generative AI and take part in AI experience programmes before holding an AI hackathon. With mentoring support, they will build a “guardian robot” using sensors and coding, create presentation materials with AI and present their results.

For guardians, the programme will introduce changes in the education environment following the spread of generative AI and ways to use AI properly through a special lecture titled “Educating Children in the AI Era.” The venue will also offer experience zones including an AI photo booth, a motion-tracking zone, AI webtoon creation and an AI voice experience.

The event was prepared for families taking part in the “I-Dream Challenge,” a social contribution programme run by LG Uplus and the Ministry of National Defense to help reduce education and cultural gaps for children of military personnel. LG Uplus has recently expanded the scope of the programme to include career exploration and science and digital education.

Park Kyung-jung (박경중), executive director in charge of external cooperation at LG Uplus, said it will continue to work with the defense ministry to provide meaningful AI education opportunities for military families and contribute to fostering future digital talent.
