Trump backtracks on Anthropic threat claims, keeps access curbs and federal ban

U.S. President Donald Trump said he no longer views Anthropic as a national security threat after meeting CEO Dario Amodei at a G7 summit, Cryptopolitan reported. Trump said it might have been different a week earlier and that he could invoke the Defense Production Act but saw no need. Existing restrictions remain, including Commerce Department approval for foreign access to two models and a Pentagon ban on federal agencies using Anthropic technology.
