LG HelloVision is providing tailored artificial intelligence (AI) education support to help narrow the digital divide in local communities.

LG HelloVision said on March 16 it signed a business agreement with the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center of the Korea Communications Agency Foundation for community-based AI co-prosperity education.

The agreement aims to provide tailored AI education programmes so vulnerable groups and small business owners are not left behind amid a rapidly changing AI environment, and to build a community-based model for digital co-prosperity. The two sides agreed to work together on pilot operations of region-specific AI education programmes, strengthening AI utilisation capabilities among the digitally vulnerable, and social contribution activities based on local infrastructure.

On March 3, the 'Our Neighborhood Small Business AI Digital Classroom' was run in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. Small business owners practiced producing short-form promotional videos using AI and applying them to promote their shops. On March 10, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, the centre held an 'AI Digital Classroom for Marriage Migrant Women' with the Korea Pearlbuck Foundation and provided education to help multicultural families adapt to Korean society.

Seong Kyung-hoon (성경훈), head of the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center, said the agreement would give local residents a chance to use AI technology as a tool to stay active in economic activity and social communication. He said the centre would build a sustainable digital learning space where anyone can benefit from technology.

Im Sung-won (임성원), managing director of LG HelloVision's public relations and external cooperation centre, said he wanted to provide practical help so local small business owners and neighbours can use AI to find vitality in their lives. He said the company plans to continue digital co-prosperity activities tailored to local characteristics through public-private cooperation.
