Apple plans to change its next-generation in-house Mac chip strategy by skipping high-performance M6 models and focusing on the M7 series with stronger on-device AI features. A report said Apple will release only a base M6 chip later this year, without Pro or Max variants, then expand the lineup around M7. The base M6 targets up to 200 GB per second memory bandwidth, up from M5’s 153 GB per second.
