LG Uplus wins three GLOMO awards including CTO Choice
LG Uplus said on Wednesday it won three awards at the GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2026, including the top CTO Choice prize in the Mobile Tech category. It cited AI security technology used in its ixi-O AI agent service, including on-device real-time detection of tampered voice. Its ixi-Guardian integrated security technology also won in network security and fraud prevention, and it received a marketing award for social value.

Naver signs deal with Korean police to prevent financial fraud, build three-layer safety net
Naver and the Korean National Police Agency signed an agreement to prevent and eradicate telecom-based financial fraud. Naver said it will run a three-layer prevention system using its AI and security capabilities to support police prevention efforts. Measures include training spam-filtering AI with the latest fraud data, issuing warnings and taking pre-emptive actions on suspicious posts, fast-tracking restrictions on accounts and users linked to blocked scam phone numbers, and building an automatic system to detect and deter malicious apps.

LG Uplus launches emergency response system to prevent voice phishing over Lunar New Year holiday
LG Uplus said on Wednesday it launched an emergency response system ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to prevent a rise in voice phishing and smishing. It will step up monitoring from its Seoul Magok office to track and block malicious app control servers. The company said it will keep a hotline with police to share information quickly and respond to blocking requests. It will also warn customers via KakaoTalk alerts and reinforce AI-based spam blocking.
