AhnLab said on Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean National Police Agency to respond to phishing crime.

AhnLab and the police agency agreed to cooperate on responding to crime and preventing 피해 by linking related information and analysis capabilities, as malicious apps continue to be abused as a key means of voice phishing and other cyber crimes that affect the public.

AhnLab will receive malicious app information collected by the police agency during investigations and analyze it. It will identify key threat information such as attackers' command-and-control servers and share it with the police agency. The police agency will use it to track attacker activity and infrastructure and carry out efforts to respond to phishing crime and prevent its spread.

AhnLab will reflect the malicious app information and analysis results in its free mobile security solution, V3 Mobile Security.

Oh Chang-bae (오창배), head of the Korean National Police Agency's integrated response unit for telecommunications and financial fraud, said voice phishing methods are becoming more sophisticated by the day through malicious apps. He said AhnLab's threat analysis capabilities and response know-how are expected to provide practical help in preventing phishing crime. He added the two institutions will actively share resources and expertise and continue close cooperation to protect the public.

AhnLab CEO Kang Seok-kyun (강석균) said AhnLab, under its vision of a "safer and freer world," recognises protecting users from various cyber threats as an important social responsibility. He said it will contribute to responding to and preventing phishing crime through cooperation with the police agency and work to raise the overall level of cyber safety in society.
