MSIT briefs science and technology societies on built-infrastructure R&D screening system
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a briefing on May 12 in Seoul for science and technology academic societies on a full lifecycle screening system for built-infrastructure R&D projects, after the abolition of preliminary feasibility studies for R&D. The ministry outlined a new tailored pre-check system and detailed operating plans for built-infrastructure reviews. It also introduced a model to link field input to government project planning.

Lablup wins presidential citation at 2026 government awards for information and communications merit
Lablup said it won a presidential citation at the 2026 government awards for information and communications merit at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in Seoul. The award recognises organisations and individuals that contributed to the development of the information and communications industry. Lablup said it was recognised for contributions to AI development and dissemination and to creating quality jobs through its proprietary AI infrastructure operations platform technology.

MSIT holds Science and ICT Day ceremony; 164 receive government awards
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Commission held the 2026 Science and ICT Day ceremony on Monday in Seoul, awarding government honours to 164 recipients. Of them, 148 received awards at the venue. Awards included 36 orders, 22 medals, 47 presidential citations and 59 prime ministerial citations. Top science and technology honours went to researchers recognised for RNA studies and quantum computing commercialisation.
