KT CEO Park Yoon-young (박윤영) stressed that the company will build a foundation to help expand artificial intelligence (AI) services by transforming into an AX company.
Park met reporters after a meeting between Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈) and South Korea's three telecom carriers at the Korea Science and Technology Center on April 9, and made the remarks.
He stressed that KT will serve as a catalyst for the expansion of AI services and industrial development. Park said, "If there is a stage for a play, wouldn't the actors need a stage where they can act well and do their best?" He explained, "Creating that stage is what the AX platform company does."
Park said the company will support AI-related solutions, including data infrastructure and operating systems, and commercialise them. Shortly after taking office, he declared in a letter to employees that KT would transform into an AX company and presented "KT professionalism" as a core company value.
He also stressed information security and network quality. Park said, "I am truly sorry and regretful for causing great inconvenience with last year's femtocell hacking," and added, "I will do my best to build a network that people can truly use."
