KOSPI settles above 7,800; buy sidecar triggered on semiconductor rally
South Korea\'s KOSPI jumped nearly 5 percent early on May 11, hit another record and closed at an all-time high above 7,800, led by gains in semiconductor heavyweights. The Korea Exchange triggered a buy sidecar after KOSPI200 futures rose more than 5 percent. Individuals and institutions were net buyers, while foreigners sold. Export data showed strong growth, driven by semiconductor shipments.

Toss Bank secures treasury receiving agent status directly linked to Bank of Korea
Toss Bank said on Thursday it has obtained the status of a treasury receiving agent directly linked to the Bank of Korea. With the qualification, the lender can handle treasury refund and repayment work in addition to its existing treasury payment services. Toss Bank has offered services since 2024 allowing users to check and pay public bills, including national taxes, customs duties and fines. It said its service coverage now also extends to receiving refunds and payments.

Korea Post, Customs Service to operate second line of drug screening at inland logistics hubs
The Ministry of Science and ICT\'s Postal Service and the Korea Customs Service will begin operating a “second line” of drug screening at inland logistics hubs from April 1 to block narcotics smuggling through international mail. Mail that has undergone a first inspection at airports and ports will be checked again with X-ray reading and package opening inspections at inland mail centers. All international mail will pass through five key hubs nationwide.
