Dunamu staff members received a Korea Customs Service commissioner's award for supporting investigations into illegal foreign exchange trading and new types of trade crimes involving digital assets.

Dunamu, which operates the digital asset exchange Upbit, said on Tuesday that Financial Data Intelligence (FDI) team head Min-seop So (소민섭) and FDI team researcher Seong-yong Kim (김성용) won the award at the Korea Customs Service's 56th founding anniversary ceremony.

The Korea Customs Service selects and honours contributors each year on its founding anniversary for helping develop customs administration and establish the country's economic order.

So and Kim have provided technical support and expert advice to the Korea Customs Service while tracing illegal foreign exchange transactions and routes used to move criminal proceeds.

They also analysed key investigation cases involving digital assets and shared crime analysis methods and related know-how with investigators and staff.

Dunamu explained that it has built a public-private cooperation system with the Korea Customs Service and is also working with it to respond to new types of trade crimes using digital assets and support enforcement against foreign exchange crimes.

Min-seop So, head of Dunamu's FDI team, said, "It is meaningful to be able to contribute to establishing financial and trade order through cooperation with the Korea Customs Service." He added, "We will continue to do our best to enhance transparency and safety in the digital asset ecosystem."
