KAIT revamps DIAT \'Information and Communications AI Literacy\' test
The Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) is revamping a DIAT subject into \'Information and Communications AI Literacy\' to broaden assessment beyond PC and communications basics. The revised test will cover AI concepts and operating principles, use of generative AI, analysis and verification of outputs, AI ethics and digital literacy. It will consist of three areas: understanding information and communications, understanding AI, and understanding digital society. The first regular test is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2027.

Public-private AI DC Alliance launched to push national strategic industry drive
South Korea launched a public-private \"AI DC Alliance\" on Tuesday to foster AI data centres as a national strategic industry. The science ministry said about 400 people from government, industry, academia and research attended the launch in Seoul. The alliance will pursue a strategy announced in June, including building 18.4GW of large-scale AI data centres, strengthening local solutions and equipment, improving power and cooling efficiency, and supporting overseas expansion.

Baek Kyung-hoon says AI DC alliance is starting point for Korea to become global intelligence exporter
Deputy Prime Minister and Science and ICT Minister Baek Kyung-hoon (배경훈) said South Korea will foster AI data centres as “token factories” that produce intelligence and help the country become a global intelligence exporter. In remarks at the launch of the AI DC Alliance, he called it a national response to the global AI revolution. He cited semiconductors and data-centre infrastructure as key strengths and pledged government support, including on power and water issues.
