2026 Cable TV Broadcast Awards held, 52 people honoured
The Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association held the 2026 Cable TV Broadcast Awards on Tuesday at Hotel Naru MGallery in Seoul, presenting awards to a total of 52 people. Marking its 20th year, the event is the country’s only integrated awards ceremony for the paid TV industry, spanning system operators and programme providers. Eight programme provider works and nine regional channel works won awards.

Korea IPTV Broadcasting Association appoints Yoo Yong-hwa as new chairman
The Korea IPTV Broadcasting Association (KIBA) appointed Yoo Yong-hwa (유용화), a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, as its new chairman, the association said on March 19. KIBA confirmed the appointment after resolutions by its board on March 11 and its general meeting on the same day. Yoo is set to take office on April 1 for a two-year term. His career includes academic and media roles.

MSIT wraps up agency briefings, steps up public communication with live disclosure
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said it live-streamed three days of briefings from 55 agencies to disclose its push for a national transformation based on science and AI. The National Science and Technology Council plans to open a National Science AI Institute in June with a 40 billion won budget. Postal authorities outlined pilot empty-home checks and logistics plans. NIPA targets 15,000 advanced GPUs and progress on a National AI Computing Center. KISA plans to introduce special judicial police for cyber incidents.
